Halloween on the High Seas on the Disney Wish

Disney's Sanderson Sisters with the Sang ladies on Disney's Wish Cruise Ship

Stepping aboard the Disney Wish is like stepping into a storybook. From the moment we arrived at Port Canaveral, the excitement of the day was palpable. Timed boarding  was smooth and well executed, and once on deck, the ship’s charm was everywhere – from the grand atrium to the whimsical Halloween tree, the Tangled prince and princess waving from above to welcome us aboard with a touch of autumn magic.

Our room was a cozy retreat after a day of exploring the ship. Thoughtfully designed, it offered dual bathrooms (perfect for families), a tub/shower combo that felt generous, and a balcony with just enough space to enjoy the breeze. Connecting room options are great for larger groups or families. Little touches like cabin door decorations are definitely a thing…luckily we planned ahead. Surprise gifts left by fellow passengers brought a smile to our faces. The bed was comfortable, the linens soft, and the sofa converts into a bed without interrupting the room’s flow.

Meals aboard the Disney Wish were delightful and always provided nice vegetarian options for my sister. Casual bites kept us fueled for exploration, while dinner in Arendelle offered a truly immersive experience, blending flavorful dishes with a show that captured the magic of Disney in a way only they can. “Woo hoo” – if you know, you know. We loved wandering the ship’s vibrant common spaces, discovering charming shops, and enjoying quiet moments in Cove Cafe with a morning coffee. Meeting the Sanderson sisters in the grand atrium was a highlight – pure joy in motion, and a memory that will last long after the voyage. Having all the characters make an appearance on our short cruise was a win in my book!

The ship is full of little surprises: immersive decorations, thoughtful design touches, lively entertainment, and spaces where both kids and adults can find magic. It’s a place that invites you to explore, slow down, and savor every moment.

A Few Practical Notes:

  • Water pressure in the showers is on the gentle side.
  • If you have any mobility issues, skip the shower/tub combo.
  • USB charging is slow, so plan accordingly.
  • Signage around the ship is minimal and can be difficult to read for older travelers, patience helps when exploring.
  • While the app is great, I miss the printed schedules (both for practicality and keepsakes).
  • Plan your time on the ship well, we found the common spaces pretty packed in the evenings.
  • Leave your OCD planning at the door. Disney takes away many of the choices for you when it comes to the dining venue and schedule. It is a nice system, but I hated not knowing the plans before stepping on the ship.

Even with a few quirks, the Disney Wish delivers on magic, comfort, and memorable experiences for travelers of all ages. Looking to book the next holiday cruise abroad a Disney Cruise Line ship, I can help!
